About Us

On September 5, 2007, a group of concerned citizens recognized the need for a new direction and formed AMES Skills and Development Corporation, a not‑for‑profit organization designed to rebuild the Lawndale and Garfield Park communities.

Since obtaining 501C3 status, AMES has been dedicated to:

  • Instilling pride and ownership in community members by teaching them the fundamentals of home buying and rehabbing
  • Promoting a sense of togetherness for community members by hosting community events and clean up days
We offer the following programs:

Home Buying Program where we offer workshops to individuals looking to purchase a home, rehab a property or become income property owners.

Volunteer Program where we host community events to promote togetherness within the Lawndale and Garfield communities.
